Training for parents

Training for parents

Raising awareness and understanding of autism is critical to ensuring children and young people with autism can learn, thrive and achieve and our training programme is just one way we achieve this.

We deliver a set of training courses for both parents and professionals, and offer a bespoke outreach and consultancy service.

These are some of the courses we offer for parents:

Understanding Autism for Parents

This parent workshop gives an introduction to the key areas of difference for someone on the autism spectrum. The course looks at how autism presents itself differently in individuals and gain greater insight into how people on the autism spectrum see the world. The session will give parents an opportunity to meet one another and share experiences as we discuss common behaviours of children with autism and possible interventions.

Understanding Disability Discrimination for Parents

This half day workshop aims to give parents and carers a broad overview of the Equality Act 2010 and the implications this has on education. The training explains the obligations schools have to make sure your child can access all areas of school life, as well as reasonable adjustments and how to appeal.
